Jackson Residents Encouraged to Use 211 for Local Resources

Jackson residents have access to 211, a free and confidential service that helps connect people to health, social and community resources across the city and state. The program serves as an easy entry point for anyone seeking reliable information about local services.

By dialing 211, callers can speak with trained specialists who help identify programs that match their needs. The service can assist residents looking for utility payment options, housing information, senior services, employment resources, health care referrals and support after severe weather. Rather than searching multiple websites or offices, residents can receive guidance in one place.

The Jackson Association of Neighborhoods encourages residents to view 211 as a practical tool for everyday life. “Whether a family is new to the city, a neighbor is recovering from a storm, or a senior needs transportation assistance, this service helps connect people with organizations already working in the community,” said JAN president, Ashlee Kelly.

Kelly also encouraged neighborhood associations and community groups to share 211 information at meetings and events so more residents know how to navigate available resources. Strengthening awareness helps ensure that help is accessible when it is needed.

The service operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Residents can dial 211 from any phone or visit 211.org to search the online directory.
