Beat the Heat: Where to Cool Off in Jackson This Summer

Summer has officially arrived and temperatures are climbing. If you want to splash with the kids, swim a few laps, or simply enjoy a refreshing break, Jackson and its surroundings offer plenty of options. The Jackson Association of Neighborhoods has compiled a guide to local pools, splash pads, and water features, ranging from free public facilities to affordable family friendly venues.

City-Owned Pools and Splash Pads

Vine Street Pool

Address: 318 Vine Street, Jackson, MS

Hours: Monday–Saturday with swim lessons from 9–10 AM, group swim from 10 AM–12 PM, and public swim from 2–5 PM, with occasional Saturday hours extended to 6 PM.

Admission: $2 for ages 17 and under; $3 for ages 18 and over (cash only)

 

Presidential Hills Splash Pad (Kingston-Frazier Memorial)

Address: 3971 N Flag Chapel Road, Jackson, MS

Hours: Monday–Saturday, 2–6 PM

Admission: Free for children 0–3; $3 for ages 4 and up (cash only)

 

Lake Hico Sprinkler Pad

Address: 4245 Sunset Drive, Jackson, MS

Hours: Monday–Saturday, 2 PM onward (check official seasonal schedule for updates)

Admission: Free

 

VA (Legion) Pool

Address: 4400 Officer Thomas Catchings Sr. Drive, Jackson, MS

Hours: Monday–Saturday: 2 PM–5 PM (public swim)

Admission: $2.00 for ages 17 and under; $3.00 for ages 18 and over (cash only)

Private/group swim times (for camps, daycares, etc.) are available Monday–Friday from 10 AM–12 PM by reservation. Call Parks and Recreation at (601) 960‑0471.

 

Community-Accessible Options

Mill Street Pool

Address: 1324 North Mill Street, Jackson, MS

Hours: Monday–Saturday, 2 PM–5 PM (seasonal)

Admission: $2 for ages 17 and under; $3 for ages 18 and over (cash only)

Mississippi Children’s Museum Splash Pad

Address: 2145 Museum Boulevard, Jackson, MS

Hours: Monday–Saturday, 9 AM–5 PM; Sunday, 1 PM–6 PM

Cost: Museum entry $10 (adults/children); infants under 12 months free

 

Mississippi Museum of Art – Art Garden Fountain

Address: 380 South Lamar Street, Jackson, MS

Hours: Tuesday–Saturday, 11 AM–5 PM; Sunday, 1 PM–5 PM

Cost: Free

Private Pools and Clubs

Briarwood Pool

Address: 570 Reddoch Dr.  Jackson, MS

Hours: Monday through Friday 10:30 AM–7:30 PM, Saturday 10:00 AM–7:30 PM, Sunday 12:00 PM–7:30 PM.

Cost: Seasonal memberships range from $295 to $530 or $7 per person as a guest (must attend with a Briarwood Pool member).

Briarwood Pool offers swim lessons, hosts social events, and provides a well-maintained facility ideal for frequent swimmers. The pool is also the training home of the Jackson Public Schools swim team.

Plan Your Visits

  • The city’s official pool schedule runs roughly until early August; pools operate Monday–Saturday and close on Sundays.

  • Cash-only admissions at city facilities.

  • For private-group swim times (camps/daycares) at city-owned pools, call Parks and Recreation at (601) 960-0471.

  • Check jacksonms.gov/swimming-pools regularly for updates and closures.

  • Bring sunscreen, towels, water bottles, and water shoes. Follow all posted safety rules and lifeguard instructions.
