Community Partners Host Cleanup in Mid City
Mid City held a community cleanup on January 6, 2024, to remove litter and beautify the community. Volunteers collected trash, cut overgrown grass, and gutted the old Forte’s Shopette & Laundry building. JAN, Keep Jackson Beautiful, Revitalize Mississippi, AmeriCorps NCCC, Northminster Baptist Church, and New Mount Zion Baptist Church partnered to sponsor the event.
“Cleaner areas make for happier people, and maybe they won’t trash it,” said Bethann Read, a Keep Jackson Beautiful board member. “We’ve got to have people realize that this is their home, our planet, and we don’t need to trash it. We’ve got to have a mindset change.”
