The Briarwood Arts Center, in partnership with the Mississippi Arts Commission, invites women to A Freed Woman's Generative Writing Retreat on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Briarwood Arts Center, 614 Briarwood Drive, Jackson, MS. Come to reset, ignite creativity, and create in the arms of sisterhood. During this retreat, participants will experience breathwork, movement, and receive prompts curated to pull stories from the soul. Because our stories deserve to be heard, attendees will also take time to polish their words and submit them for publication. The retreat is facilitated by Shanina Carmichael.
